Twin-In at IFSA 2026: Building skills for responsible twin transitions in European agrifood systems
IFSA 2026 in Montpellier brought together an inspiring international community of over 300 researchers and academics sparking some truly valuable insights on the futures of farming systems.
In this highly productive environment, our TWIN-IN consortium presented two papers that speak directly to the skills and capacities needed for responsible twin transitions (green and digital) in European agrifood systems.
“Developing capacity for systemic change: A multi-actor skills framework for responsible twin transitions in European agrifood systems” – introducing the main building blocks of TWIN-IN’s competency framework for farmers, advisors, researchers, startups, HEIs and VET providers. Presented by Tiziana Pagnani, co-authored with Luca Bartoli, Concetta Cardillo, Chrysanthi Charatsari, Marcello De Rosa, Charlotte Ede, Tina Mavrič, Evagelos Lioutas, Adolfo M., Constantino Valero Ubierna.
“How can science support twin transitions? A sociotechnical imaginaries viewpoint” – focusing on the competencies scientists need to responsibly guide twin transitions in agrifood systems. Presented by Evagelos Lioutas, co-authored with Chrysanthi Charatsari, Marcello De Rosa, Tiziana Pagnani, Dimitrios Aidonis, Charisios Achillas, Dimitris Folinas, Anastasios Michailidis.
