Agrifood Pact for Skills

TWIN-IN’s team attended the 2026 Agrifood Pact for skills annual event, hosted by FoodDrinkEurope and COPA COGECA!

The discussions highlighted urgent 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞:
🌽An aging farming population (average age 57, with less than 12% under 40) makes generational renewal a key priority.
🌽Barriers such as access to land, gender imbalance, and the sector’s attractiveness continue to limit youth engagement.

𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 are essential to:
🌽Equip the agrifood workforce with skills that meet both current and future needs
🌽Open opportunities for underrepresented groups
🌽Support skills development for a sustainable, resilient, and competitive sector
🌽Inspire the next generations

The event also showcased inspiring initiatives driving skills development and innovation across the agrifood ecosystem.

🤝TWIN-IN will build on the lessons highlighted during the event. We aim to 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐠𝐚𝐩𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐰𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬, engaging a wide range of actors across the agrifood chain, including farmers, advisors, researchers, startups, HEI and VET educators, and learners.
